Cultural Landscapes

The inventory “Cultural Landscapes of the Mediterranean and the Middle East” has been developed by our collaborator Sara Martínez, from the University of Cordoba, with the aim of gathering information on the region’s non-identified landscapes. For this purpose, different inclusion criteria and indicators for the systematization of information have been selected and translated into sheets that collect the great variety of landscapes of the Med-O-Med region. As illustrated below, this inventory includes desert landscapes, landscapes of spiritual or architectural value, as well as those equipped with historic irrigation techniques or systems. They also include important preservation models, such as the “al-Hima” or nature reserve. Thus, the Med-O-Med platform is provided with a tool for an optimal and sustainable management of the resources on this field.
