The September 10th of 2010, FUNCI through its program “Med-O-Med: Cultural landscapes of the Mediterranean and Middle East“, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Royal Botanic Garden of Madrid, that due its scientific labour depends on the High Council for Scientific Research (CSIC Spanish acronym).
The Memorandum of Understanding, signed by the President of FUNCI, Cherif Abderrahman Jah and the Director of the Royal Botanic Garden, Gonzalo Nieto Feliner, establish a frame in which the both organizations will develop their relation
The royal botanic garden is one of the most representative in Spain, not only due to its historical importance, and also its long tradition and experience regarding the work of the botanic gardens, but also due to its relevant research programs and its facilities. The royal Botanic Garden stands out also in the educational programs, designed for students of all ages, and creating in them an environmental awareness and approaching them to the research community.
Med-O-Med, in its objective to create a competitive network and joined those research centers and organizations that work in the development of the research in Mediterranean basin and Middle East, continue establishing memorandum of understanding that will develop in fruitful exchanges and jointed projects. In this way Med-O-med has signed memorandums with several organizations as Al-Quds University, in Palestine; the Syrian Enviroment Association and the Fondation Mohammed VI pour la Protection de l’Environnement, in Morocco.
