Nomenclatural contributions to two varieties of Myrtus communis

The lectotypification of the Linnaean names Myrtus communis var. baetica and var. tarentina (Myrtaceae) is discussed. The designation of the nomenclatural types is based on the Linnaeus’s original material and literature cited in the protologue. Both names are lectotypified using specimens at the Herbarium Clifford, preserved in the Natural History Museum of London (BM). A change of range is proposed for Myrtus communis var. baetica, considering the range of subspecies.
