They are called ‘Flores de Andalucía’ (Flowers of Andalusia) and aim to improve green management every year. They have the support of the Andalusian Multisectoral Gardening Association (AMJA) and its professionals.
“Andalucía en Flor” is an initiative of AMJA, the Multisectoral Association of Andalusian Gardening, whose objectives are to promote, protect, improve and enhance the green spaces of Andalusia’s municipalities, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life of its citizens and social relations, the image of the municipalities for their inhabitants and visitors, promoting tourism, generating forums for debate on the sustainable management of towns and cities, promoting green spaces as a meeting point for social relations and improving social awareness of sustainable policies and the value of urban green spaces.
Andalucía en Flor is an annual regional programme aimed at promoting and highlighting the involvement of Andalusian municipalities in the maintenance and improvement of urban green spaces, public awareness, sustainability, education and respect for the environment. Andalucía en Flor recognises this work by presenting awards to municipalities, called ‘Flores de Andalucía’ (Flowers of Andalusia).
The Andalucía en Flor programme is open to all towns and cities in Andalusia and is managed by AMJA with the support of local, provincial and regional administrative bodies. The Flores de Andalucía awards are granted according to the criteria of a jury made up of renowned personalities who visit all the municipalities participating in the Andalucía en Flor programme once a year.
If your local council would like to join “Andalucía en Flor”, please contact AMJA:
Send an email to gerenciaamja@amja.es requesting membership (Download Membership Document). Once the organisation has validated your application, the municipality will be considered a ‘Flor de Andalucía’ (Flower of Andalusia) and will obtain all the rights and benefits that the programme grants.
