Med-O-Med works through its Executive Secretariat, supported and managed by the Islamic Culture Foundation (FUNCI) of Madrid. FUNCI has created a Med-O-Med Scientific Committee, whose members are experts in biodiversity conservation, development cooperation and cultural heritage, or belong to the main bodies participating in the Programme. This Scientific Committee help to establish the principles on which the Programme and the Med-O-Med quality seal are to be based, and serve as the advisory body to guarantee the quality and appropriateness of any actions taken.

The Executive Secretariat consists of a Technical Team to evaluate and approve any projects to be carried out under the Med-O-Med quality seal, in line with the criteria established by the Programme’s Scientific Committee. The Executive Secretariat will be responsible for organising and monitoring actions taken within the Programme.

It is responsible for informing and coordinating all those involved in the Med-O-Med network and for considering participation by new members, private and public bodies and institutions.

The Executive Secretariat also coordinates the signature of Framework Agreements with the institutions involved. Specific Agreements shall be reached for each new project amongst all the parties involved, with the Executive Secretariat acting as mediator to facilitate exchanges, in its capacity as an expert body for intercultural dialogue and multidisciplinary work.
